About "Thirteen Reasons Why"
Read "Thirteen Reasons Why（「13の理由」）" almost a year ago, and it gave me a huge impact. It was like when I read Elaine Lobl Konigsburg ("the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" or "George" "Up from Jericho Tel").
The story starts with a teenage boy getting a package of tapes which was made by his class mate who had committed suicide. Once started reading, I could not close the book, and it was actually a splendid-page-turner!
The theme is heavy but it gives a hope and makes us feeling refreshed, and also it's never been "a sermonic type of story".
I really love this book! Thanks to the both publishers in the US and Japan. The Japanese translation is awesome.
